Dear friend,
Coin Magic Books are an essential part of ANY magician’s journey to becoming a truly great magician. Coin magic is astonishing, visual magic that your spectators will LOVE.
But where do you start? There are so many coin magic books out there that it can be hard to know which is THE best one for you. Well, we did the hard part and researched the top four books on coin magic, which we’ve listed in this blog post (so you can be sure you get the right one for you!)
So let’s start with our number four coin magic book!
- Number 4: Coin Magic The Complete Book of Coin Tricks by Jean Hugard.
- Number 3: Introduction to Coin Magic by Shiego Futagawa.
- Number 2: Geoff Latta The Long Goodbye written by Stephen Minch & Hobbs.
- Number 1: Modern Coin Magic by J.B. Bobo.
Let’s get into it.
Number 4: Coin Magic: The Complete Book of Coin Tricks by Jean Hugard
If you’re looking for a quick read this might be the coin magic book for you! At around 90 pages it’s certainly something you can easily get through on one particularly long bus ride…
The tricks themselves well… maybe that’ll take you longer than just the one bus ride. It’s a very detailed book despite the fact that it’s not as long as one might have expected. Some great tricks, well explained and relatively easy to learn once you begin to master the basics!

Number 3: Introduction to Coin Magic by Shigeo Futagawa.

If you’re a beginner at coin magic like I am this is the book for you, always wanted to know how to get those cool effects? Well this Japanese wizard has certainly got your back- his name is Shiego Futagawa and this is his book introduction to Coin Magic.
It must be noted that this book was translated from Japanese but I didn’t even really notice until I looked the actual guy up myself.
It’s well diagramed, clearly explained and at 200 words a bit more in-depth than the previous book I noted.

Number 2: Geoff Latta The Long Goodbye written by Stephen Minch & Hobbs.

As far as authorities on classic coin magic Geoff Latta has to be up there as one of the biggest! An underground legend, this exclusive book allows you insight into the techniques behind the magic. If you want to get ahead of the game and start your path onto becoming a real pro this is certainly the Coin Magic Book for you!
One of the great things about this book is that is delves not only into the sleights behind the magic but also the psychology. If you really want to fool people, oh and I know I do, this is certainly one of the most important aspects of magic. The best way to fool magicians is to genuinely do magic, but with their mind- deep I know… Look just buy the book and you’ll understand.

BONUS 3: 368 Classic Magic Book Collection ($10)
Did you know?
Two years ago, we discovered that many of the best magic books EVER WRITTEN—Tarbell’s course on magic, Expert at the Card Table by Erdanase and Bobo’s Coin Magic are ALL public domain.
Yes, you heard us right, just between these three books nearly 3,000 pages of incredible magic content is simply bouncing around the internet.
(and hardly anyone is using or knows about it…)
Here’s why:
- The content isn’t easy to find (you have to know EXACTLY what to search for and be aware of which sources are reputable and which aren’t)
- Many magic companies make NO effort to ensure this stuff is readily available (but they do profit off product after product that uses effects taken directly from these books and given a ‘modern twist’)
- People don’t know where to start (300 classic magic books is an overwhelming number, and it can be hard to find the really good stuff)
- The magic companies that HAVE collected these books sell them at a ludicrous price and they’re vastly behind the times ($80 for a CD ROM is kind of a joke…)
Here’s what we’ve done to tackle this issue:
- We’ve put all the books in one place (let’s not even talk about the 1000’s of hours this has taken, we’ll get PTSD…)
- We’ve written a commentary for all the ones we think are worth starting with (91 to be exact)
- We’re making this accessible to the entire magic world (let’s just say our price tag doesn’t even get close to $80…)
Just to give you an idea of how big of a deal that is – here’s an image of just one page from the index…

This is just 36 of the 4429 effects that have been indexed, that you can instantly reference based on category, book, the effect name, and page.
Truly this makes this already mammoth resource 100x more valuable.
