No magician’s toolkit is complete until they secure a high quality magic wallet. But what are the best magic wallets?
There are lots of different factors to think about when deciding which magic wallet to buy. What price are you willing to pay? How big do you want your wallet to be? What material? What kind of effects do you want to be able to perform with it?
In this blog post, I’m going to run through the top 5 magic wallets on the market—and reveal how well each of them measure up against these various factors.
Magic Wallet Pick No.5: Himber Wallet by TCC
Name: Himber Wallet
Purpose: Switching, Vanishes
Price: $25
Size: 8.3 × 4.5 × 0.3 in
Material: Artificial Leather
This is the cheapest wallet on this list, but it’s still a great product. Using this simple yet ingeniously devised wallet, you can switch any flat object for another—or even make it vanish!
If wallet material is a deal breaker for you, you might want to check out the other wallets on this list, as the Himber wallet is only made from artificial leather and so doesn’t boast the same high quality look and feel as the others. But, if you’re on a budget, it’s a decent looking wallet that unlocks thousands of potential routines!

Magic Wallet Pick No.4: Real Man’s Wallet
Name: Real Man’s Wallet
Purpose: Card to wallet
Price: $40
Size: 8.5 × 5.5 × 1.0 in
Material: Leather
This is a great wallet that can also double as your go-to ‘everyday’ wallet. That’s because it’s high quality and made to work exactly like an ordinary wallet.
This wallet isn’t as versatile as some of the others—you can only perform one type of routine with it—but it does that one routine VERY well. So if you’re buying a magic wallet for the sole purpose of performing the ‘card to wallet’ routine, this product is perfect for you.
Important Notice (READ BEFORE BUYING!): This wallet relies on the technique of ‘palming’ to accomplish the effect. If you’re skilled in palming, this is a great wallet. But if you don’t know how to palm yet, I wouldn’t recommend starting with this wallet. Instead, I would recommend the ‘BKM’ wallet (No.1 on this list) as it provides you with a ‘zero palming’ method.

Magic Wallet Pick No.3: Sho-Gun Wallet by Jerry O’Connell and Propdog
Name: Sho-Gun Wallet
Purpose: Switching, Vanishes
Price: $55
Size: 9.8 × 6.0 × 0.5 in
Material: Leather
Although this switching wallet is more expensive than the Himber wallet, it’s also a lot higher quality. As numerous reviewers have pointed out on various sites, it is beautifully made and looks exactly like a regular wallet.
You can perform just as many awesome tricks and routines as with the Himber wallet, but the main difference is this—when you pack up your show and go home, you still have a great REAL wallet. That’s what sets the Sho-Gun wallet apart; you’re paying for a real wallet that also doubles as a magic one (whereas with the Himber wallet, you’re paying for a trick wallet that doubles as a real one.) It’s a small distinction, but it makes a HUGE difference—and in my eyes, makes the price gap completely worth it.

Magic Wallet Pick No.2: Plus Wallet by Jerry O’Connell and Propdog
Name: Plus Wallet
Purpose: Card to wallet
Price: $141
Size: Available in two sizes, large and small.
Large: 170mm x 100mm.
Small: 150mm x 98mm
Material: Leather
This is the most expensive wallet on the list, but there’s a good reason…
The ‘Plus Wallet’ takes the ‘card to wallet’ to the next level—a signed card vanishes and appears inside a sealed envelope inside the wallet!
If you have the budget to go for this wallet, and the technical skill to perform the routine, it’s a ‘must-have’ for me. The little bit extra you pay for the wallet will be repaid ten times over in the reactions you’ll get performing it.
After you master the ‘card to wallet’ routine, why not experiment with loading other signed objects like coins or business cards into this wallet? It’s a great way to add some variety to the routine, and gives you an option for when you don’t have any cards on you.

Magic Wallet Pick No.1: BKM Wallet
Name: BKM Wallet
Purpose: Card to Wallet
Price: $70
Size: 8.6 × 5.6 × 1.0 in
Material: Leather
This is the number one ‘all-rounder’ of the magic wallets. It’s actually a combination of three different types of wallet in one; Balducci, Kaps and Mullica (BKM.) The Balducci and Kaps methods rely on palming to accomplish the ‘card to wallet’ effect, whereas the Mullica version can be performed without ANY palming.
For this reason, I would recommend this wallet for someone who WANTS to learn the palming method, but wants an easy method to fall back on if needed.
What do I mean by that?
For example, when you’re out performing, you can choose whether or not to try the palming method. If you’re feeling confident enough to go for the palming version, you can use either the Balducci or Kaps method contained in this wallet.
But if it comes to it and you freeze up during the performance or get cold feet about palming, you can simply use the Mullica method and nobody will notice anything went wrong. Because this wallet is so adaptable, it allows YOU to adapt and change your method based on your needs at the time.

Before you jump right in and buy one of these, here are a couple more things to consider…
Magic Wallet vs Real Wallet
As you might have noticed, most of these wallets can also double up as real, everyday, wallets. I like this feature, but some magicians might prefer to keep their bank cards and private information separate from the wallet they use heavily during shows and performances.
If that’s you, there’s nothing wrong with opting for a cheaper wallet like the Himber wallet for your magic purposes, and devoting the rest of your budget to a high quality ordinary wallet for real use.
More than one?
Most magicians own a combination of the wallets above. As you might have noticed, most of them are built either for switching or performing the ‘card to wallet’ effect. So, if you want to be able to do both, you need one of each.
And what if you want a magic wallet that does something completely different to switching or loading?
Mentalists often use ‘peeking’ wallets—custom made wallets that allow them to catch a glimpse of items placed inside them.
For example…
The mentalist asks their spectator to write down the name of a city on a piece of paper. That piece of paper is then placed inside the wallet, apparently ‘out of sight’. However, without the spectator realizing, the mentalist is able to ‘peek’ at the paper (thanks to the wallet) and read the name of the city. They can pretend to be ‘reading the mind’ of the spectator.
If you think that sounds like a useful wallet, you might like the ‘Telethought’ wallet or products like the ‘Sight Unseen Case’.
BONUS: Fire Wallet
Here’s a fun ‘extra’ wallet that is a guaranteed reaction machine. It’s a great wallet for opening up your performance as it’s very visual, and fast. I would use it to grab people’s attention, and then move into a different routine.
Here’s the basic idea:
You remove an ordinary looking wallet from your pocket, and open it up. Out of nowhere bursts a tower of real flames—and they continue to burn for a few seconds.
As fast as they appeared, they disappear as you shut the wallet. You can then open it up and display it to your audience, ‘proving’ that it really is an ordinary wallet.
CAUTION: This wallet is only available for magicians over 18, as it is highly dangerous if handled incorrectly.
