A participant freely selects a word from a book.
There is no writing, no peeking, and no apparent way for the performer to know what was chosen.
Rather than revealing the word directly, the performer places a dictionary into the participant's hands and asks them to look it up.
They turn the pages themselves.
They locate the word themselves.
And when they arrive at the entry, they discover that their exact word has been circled in advance.
The participant can continue examining the dictionary, only to find that no other words have been marked.
The Lexicon Paradox is a devastating prediction effect disguised as a book test. The revelation happens in the participant's own hands, creating a moment that feels deeply personal and impossible to rationalize.
