The dialogue above is from a magician in the Buena Vista Shuffle Club (this is magic book), who wants to show some ideas he’s got from Card College!!!
In my opinion, this small little excerpt, and the rest of the chapter shows you WHY magic clubs are a MUST if you are a magician!
Here’s why every magician should join a magic club…
1: You’ve got some competition on your hands. This is great for excelling and pushing each other to be at their best!
2: People get to really share their passion and geek out (anyone ever tried to explain a classic pass to a friend only to have them yawning in mere moments?)
3: You can come up with new ideas, and play around with effects in ways you never thought of before.
4: You get the challenge of trying to fool each other with different effects (you ALL know the SECRETS but there’s alway’s another secret…)
5: You can help each other out. We all have different strengths, and weakness in life and in magic and it can be invaluable to have others support you and take your magic to new levels you would of never got to on your own!
What is the best magic club?
If I could only recommend one magic club to join it would be Magic Mastery. But of course I would say that, I’m one of the people who run the club! Before I tell you about Magic Mastery I want to tell you about one other magic club…

Now when we say ‘Magic Mastery’ please don’t get us confused! When you think of mastery within magic probably a few things come to mind – knowing a bunch of sleights, having perfect mastery of all areas of magic including coin, rope, stage, etc.
To us – this is NOT magic mastery.
Magic mastery is a mindset, a way of thinking.

That does NOT mean practicing 8 hours a day every day.

P.S. If you want to join a local magic club, simply start by researching clubs in your area through an online search or by asking at local magic shops, as they often have connections with magic communities!
Once you’ve identified a club, visit their website or contact them directly to inquire about membership requirements, which may include an application, a membership fee, and possibly a performance audition/acceptance trick to demonstrate your skills (some clubs require this which is pretty cool!)
Don’t forget to attend a meeting or event if possible, as this provides an opportunity to meet current members, understand the club’s activities, and showcase your interest and abilities in magic!
